Perhaps best known in jazz circles for her 2011 jazz-country fusion album Countrypolitan Duets, noted Nashville singer/songwriter Anna Wilson here returns with her sixth album. Firmly in the chanteuse and torch-singing tradition, Wilson has a flair for the dramatic. She subtly uses phrasing and a variety of textures to move along this mix of originals and covers (check out her exquisite version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird”). Originals include the lyrically driven “Polaroid,” the modern singer/songwriterly “While the Music’s Still in Me,” and “Champagne,” which sounds like a forgotten speakeasy classic.
