Indigo Dreams

Indigo Dreams

The BoDeans’ 1986 debut Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams was a landmark album of classic rock and pop tunes released at a time when guitar-based rock ‘n’ roll was in short supply. The unimpeachable duo of Kurt Neumann and Sam Llanas show up ready for duty on their 2011 release, Indigo Dreams. Neumann’s moved on to Austin, Texas, while Llanas remains in their home state of Wisconsin, yet they sound as close as brothers. Always a band of great consistency, the BoDeans sound as assured and enjoyable as ever. “Blowin’ My Mind” is the power-packed opener, but gentle mid-tempos such as “Right Now” and “Me Again” also carry great emotional weight. The roots-rock shuffle of “How Can We” showcases the group soothing blend of electric guitar and organ. “Rock n Roll Overdrive” evokes a tough blues singer singing a tale of many Midwestern rock ‘n’ roll bands. “Father’s Day” is touching piano ballad. “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” is a tough hard-rocker.  What remains of the band is still classic BoDeans.
