Neil Young has spent much of his career bouncing between acoustic Neil and electric/Crazy Horse Neil, but he'd never gone back and explored the possibilities of the orchestrations on his first solo album until now. Sadly, the man who orchestrated that album, Jack Nitzsche, died in 2000, however Young captures the overall feel and innocence of his eponymous debut on the lush live-with-orchestra versions of “Plastic Flowers,” “Glimmer,” and “All Those Dreams.”
