Solar Secrets

Solar Secrets

Argentina’s Capsula has been steadily earning the respect of the people the trio admires. Solar Secrets is Capsula's first official worldwide release, and its sound is made especially vibrant by legendary producer Tony Visconti, who’d just completed David Bowie’s powerful comeback album The Next Day. (Capsula recorded its version of the entire Ziggy Stardust album in 2012.) “Riverside of Love” announces a great depth of sound and style, with thick washes of Martin Guevara’s guitars retaining a punk-like anger among the glam prettiness. Ignacio Villarejo Solimo (a.k.a. Nacho) is a drummer who locks into a groove so firmly that a tune like “Blind” sees its way to the finish no matter how twisted the bass lines from Coni Duchess are. “Seven Crimes” sounds as if the trio's ascending a large tower built to the sky. “Dark Age” uses a twisted blues lick worthy of The Black Keys to find its own dark catharsis. “Trails of Senselessness” takes a cinematic cruise with a joyful pop song at its heart. Visconti and Capsula are the right marriage for the right time.
