Scars & Souvenirs (Special Edition 2009)

Theory of a Deadman stick to their winning hard-rock formula on Scars & Souvenirs, opening their third album with a heavy, stomping riff as Tyler Connolly rejoices in leaving an ex behind. They keep the ingredients varied, too, making room for vulnerability on the romantic runaway plan “All or Nothing,” which builds a rousing chorus over bold piano and acoustic guitar. “Hate My Life” injects some tongue-in-cheek humor into the mix, as Connolly voices his complaints via poppy melodies.
