Eleven Eleven Digital Expanded

Eleven Eleven Digital Expanded

Upon its release, Eleven Eleven was celebrated as another consistently great Dave Alvin album. But his songs are meant to be played live, and the Ann Arbor, Mich., concert here catches the band on a good, sweaty night; they work through Alvin's catalog with assurance, including a riveting take on "Fourth of July." The three studio bonus cuts ("Beautiful City 'Cross the River," "Signal Hill," and "Never Trust a Woman") are nocturnal nightclub blues with Alvin narrating with an impending sense of doom. Note: There are three editions of Dave Alvin & The Guilty Ones' expanded version of Eleven Eleven. This edition features the original album (2011's Eleven Eleven), plus nine tracks recorded live at The Ark in Ann Arbor on July 2, 2011, and three bonus cuts from the Eleven Eleven sessions, including "Beautiful City 'Cross the River," which was featured in the FX series Justified. The other editions are Live at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI, July 2, 2011, which features just the nine live tracks, and Bonus Tracks and Live at The Ark, which, as its title implies, features the live concert and the three bonus tracks without the original album.
