A shifting New York City collective that takes musical multiculturalism to a playful extreme, Tribecastan tackle holiday material (for the second time) with their usual flair. Highlights in the clever department include turning “O Little Town of Bethlemayhem” into a bouncing Caribbean gem, “Good King What’s His Name” into a droning African riff, and “Silver Bells” into a swaying klezmer dirge. While “Little Drummer Boycheck” is long on kitsch, there's genuine outward-looking musicianship on “Shchedryk/Carol of the Bells” and the mostly unrecognizable “Jingle Bells,” which comes complete with tabla and sitar.
