Intentions - EP

Perhaps inspired by his music's increasingly personal nature, Grenier dropped his DJG moniker in 2012, opting to use his real last name as his production credit moving forward. It's no small wonder, then, that he'd follow this with an EP titled Intentions, showcasing some of his most emotive work to date. Impressively, the EP runs a gamut of genres, with each track representative of another sound. Yet none of the individual efforts sound shallow or too experimental. "Cursive" opens the EP with a nigh-atmospheric take on dubstep; looping vocals and organic plucked strings contrast a rolling, somatic bass line. "Gutta" rides an uneasy, broken beat over an acid bass line, while the title track is a constantly changing four-to-the-floor affair. The cinematic solace of "Silver Surfer" and "I Miss the Hiss" round out this soulful and chameleonic EP.
