Jumpin' out the Gym

Jumpin' out the Gym

Every once in a while, an album comes out that completely changes the game and makes everyone stop and listen. Undeniable classics like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Thriller, and The Chronic transcend age, race, religion, and social class, becoming part of the fabric of the universe. Jumpin Out the Gym isn't one of those albums. It sounds more like James Franco's wigger character/caricature in the post-Disney girls-gone-wild flick Spring Breakers. But what Riff Raff and Dolla Bill Gates lack in lyrical ability and groundbreaking production, they make up for sheer energy and head-scratching hilarity, peppering spastic futuristic beats with an abundance of seemingly random raps. They have shoutouts to ceiling fans, mountain lions, Rambo, Betty Crocker, and Air Canada. Presumably, these guys are in on the joke, and this is some sort of elaborate performance art project. Regardless, it's vastly more entertaining than the majority of new rap music and completely different than anything else out there today.
