Yeah!

Yeah!

Brownsville Station’s third album boasts their breakout hit, “Smokin’ in the Boys Room,” a prototypically swaggering piece of boogie rock that would define them in the minds of millions. While this homegrown Michigan ensemble could never compete with Grand Funk Railroad for pure Motor City muscle, they had a feeling for rock-solid rhythms and a sharp pop sensibility. “Lightnin’ Bar Blues,” “Take It or Leave It,” and “Let Your Yeah Be Yeah” are something like Detroit’s answer to Creedence Clearwater Revival. The album’s showstopper is less subtle. An outlandish hybrid of Spencer Davis Group and Black Sabbath, “Question of Temperature” is a must-hear.
