The Sound Doctor

Producer Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Black Ark Studio in Kingston was an epicenter of Jamaican music in the ‘70s, pumping out the kind of dusty roots reggae and gooey dub that defined the era. This set of rare unreleased dubplates features thrilling cuts from famous voices like Dillinger on the tough skank of “Wam-Pam-Pa-Do,” U-Roy on the strutting “006,” and The Upsetters themselves on “Horny Train,” a woozy rework of Junior Murvin’s classic “Roots Train.”
