Suspiria (Colonna sonora originale del film)

For his classic 1977 slasher film, Suspiria, Dario Argento worked closely with Goblin, an Italian prog-rock band, and together they broke new ground in the field of cinematic horror sounds. On the storming riffs of “Markos,” the music is both precise and unhinged. Moog expulsions recur throughout, as the cacophonous riffs of “Black Forest” collapse into an oozing, lurching funk groove. The title theme is immortal: tabla, bouzouki, and celesta converge in a cyclical, rotating motif that sounds like a demonic ritual.
