Cali-HI

Cali-HI

Formed in Chico but currently based in San Diego, Mystic Roots Band is one of the best American reggae groups working today. Fusing traditional roots, feel-good hip-hop, ample funk, and a touch of ska, they've been playing since 1996, touring extensively (they were Pato Banton's backup band for a while), writing new material, and hitting the studio. Cali-HI is their third release, following Chico Style and Constant Struggle, and is packed with 18 songs focused mostly on good times, positive vibrations, and quality West Coast weed. Hearty, head-nodding rhythms, back lots of horn flourishes, organ vamps, and multi-dimensional vocals, creating upbeat music ideal for summer barbecues, friendly dancefloors, and outdoor college concerts. They display the perfect amount of musicianship, writing skills, and overall feeling needed to get you feeling great. Highlights here include "Sweet Sinsemillia (Remix)," "Work 2 Dub," and "Something About a Girl" featuring Zion Thompson.
