Jubilee

Jubilee

With 25 years together and 10 albums released, Marley's Ghost can now perform American roots music with an authority that befits its longevity. Jubilee features six originals and seven covers recorded by Nashville legend Cowboy Jack Clement at his Sound Emporium studio. Guests include Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Marty Stuart, Old Crow Medicine Show, Larry Campbell, Byron House, and Don Heffington, all celebrating the group's milestone. Bobby and Shirley Womack's "It's All Over Now" gets a formal hoedown rendition. Kris Kristofferson's "This Old Road" is given a straight country read. Harris joins in on lead and harmony for John Prine's "Unwed Fathers." A version of Levon Helm and Larry Campbell's "Growin' Trade" lets Ed Littlefield Jr. evoke the late Helm's rustic beauty. Paul Siebel's "She Made Me Lose My Blues" fits Marley's Ghost's style as easefully as the three Dan Wheetman originals that open the album, including the spectacular "Wake Up Mama" (which should make even seasoned musicians blush). Jubilee features inspired and enviable performances throughout.
