Connecticut Casual

An underground emcee/producer whose pedigree dates back to the late-'90s boom times, Apathy is a member of both The Demigodz and Army of the Pharoahs, and he's worked extensively with Celph Titled, 7L, Esoteric, and The Get Busy Committee. On Connecticut Casual, he goes the concept-album route, rhyming extensively about various facets of life in New England, from the tony mega-rich vacationland of Martha's Vineyard to the grimy hand-to-mouth existence in East Hartford projects. Lobster fishing, the Kennedys, Puerto Rican gangsters, and hardcore drug abuse also get addressed, while the wildly diverse beatwork (from Da Beatminerz and The Dopplegangaz, but mostly Ap himself) samples everything from Wham! to The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Nutmeg State homies Chris Webby, Kappa Gamma, Hayze, and ANoyd all deliver decent features, but it's Apathy who remains the star of the show. Don't miss "Locals Only!," "Money Makes the World Go Round," and "Martha Moxley (Rest in Peace)."
