I would like to see Willie do a series of covers with Rick Rubin, like Johnny Cash's American recordings.
Legendary Cover
From the golden vocal chords of the legendary Americana artist Willie Nelson comes this astounding cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist." I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but after looping this song for the fourth time in a roll and seeing this song used in the Chipotle Mexican Grill viral campaign "Back to the Start," I must conclude it's brilliance on every scale.
ANOTHER SMOKING HIT FROM WILLIE!
Providing a much-needed balance of normalcy to a day that’s seen Jack White and Insane Clown Posse getting together on a Mozart tune, Willie Nelson has recorded a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” as an ad for Chipotle, lending his tremulous twang to the keening Britpop song in order to promote organic and sustainable farming. Nelson’s version of the tune provides the soundtrack to the animated short that’s currently being screened in movie theaters, the stop-motion story of a factory farmer who rejects his industrialized life of pills and pigs in cages and goes “back to the start” by allowing them to roam free before they’re shipped off to become Chipotle carnitas. It's also for a great cause as 60 cents from every purchase benefiting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. And, quite possibly, helping to offset all the free burritos that Nelson gets to eat from now on.
