Live at Moondance Jam

Live at Moondance Jam

The annual Moondance Jam in Walker, Minn., is a highlight of the summer for Midwest classic rock fans, and R.E.O. Speedwagon have been part of the tradition since the mid-'90s. Here, they play not just their radio hits from the '80s but the earlier songs from albums that had resonated throughout Middle America. It’s still in evidence, too. The veteran group, featuring singer Kevin Cronin, end this show with “157 Riverside Avenue” from the band’s 1971 self-titled album, from which only keyboardist Neal Doughty remains. The four tracks from R.E.O.'s 1980 blockbuster Hi Infidelity are collected up top, with “Don’t Let Him Go” and “Keep on Loving You” proving their durability and “In Your Letter” receiving its first live airing on album. Same for “Golden Country” and “Like You Do,” which date back to Cronin’s first album with the group (their second, 1972’s R.E.O./T.W.O.). Fan favorites “Roll with the Changes,” “Ridin’ the Storm Out,” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling” make for a complete package.
