While he may not be as widely recognized as the others, the Jacksonville, Florida native graced a number of classic soul and blues sessions for artists including Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and Elvis Presley. Hinton's own blue-eyed soul, of which Letters from Mississippi is his best, echoes the rich, soulful sounds of the artists he accompanied, with deep, southern-fried guitar lines and ardent, big-hearted vocals.
