Although Maurice White's ensemble later embraced the electronic sounds of the decade, their first album of the '80s builds on the band's iconic horn-driven '70s sound. This eclectic and expansive double album kicks off with the skittering, gospel-tinged funk of "Let Me Talk," powered by White's ever-present kalimba. Throughout, upbeat rhythms are fused with infectious horn riffs and melodic hooks, although the immense power of the groove is smartly tempered by soulful breathers like the wistful ballad "You" and the delicate orchestral fantasy "Sailaway.”
