Athens' Futurebirds have been farming twangy psych rock out of lush country soil since 2010, and their 2012 live album, Seney - Stovall, illustrates the group’s layered, rootsy sound in all its glory. "Johnny Utah" mixes multipart harmonies with sighing pedal-steel guitar and unruly, simmering electric riffs, while "Dirty D (P.A. Power Out)" moves from a dreamlike, reverb-heavy waltz to an explosive guitar outro that splits the difference between Crazy Horse and Radiohead.
