F**k All The Perfect People (feat. The New Ukrainians)

Chip Taylor has raised his profile over the years. His legendary status as the author of "Wild Thing" and "Angel of the Morning" threatened to overshadow his entire career. But the mercurial Taylor (born John Wesley Voight, the younger brother of actor Jon Voight) re-emerged in the '90s and began a second act that's been a powerful reminder of what a disciplined songwriter can do. A collaboration with his Scandinavian touring band (guitarist John Platania, keyboardist Goran Grini, bassist Bjorn Petterson, guitarist Orjan Maki, and drummer Magnus Olsson), the aggressively titled F**k All the Perfect People is another strong entry into the world of smart songwriting and roots music. The title track is a country-rock number inspired by a negative comment in a Swedish live review. "This Darkest Day" was written for a memorial concert following the mass killings near Oslo in 2011. "And I Know Dark" is the official song of the Mean Bastard Festival in Kiruna, Sweden, which celebrates the no-sunlight days at the core of harsh Scandinavian winters.
