Tears of a Soldier

Tears of a Soldier

A prolific emcee from Cali's San Gabriel Valley, Mr. Capone-E has been putting in work since the late '90s, dropping 15 albums since his 2000 debut, Mr. Capone-E & The Southsiders. For the most part, his style is straight-up Westside gangsta rap: focusing on life and death in the Golden State, criminal hijinks in the barrio, Sureno pride, and taking out player-haters. It's all set to synth-heavy, bass-addled tracks ideal for rocking in the lowrider (though he's shown diversity with projects like Dedicated 2 the Oldies and Love Songs). On Tears of a Soldier he's back in full-on G mode, with hard-hitting tracks like "Straight from Cali” and "Life of a Cholo." If you long for the days when G-Funk was dominating the airwaves, this is right up your alley. Don't miss the posse cut "Welcome to the Wicked Wild West" (with Mr. Criminal, Ms. Lady Pinks, Grumpy Loco, Script Loc, and Triste Loko) and the touching tribute "R.I.P. Dedicated to Nate Dogg."
