It's Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW - EP

The debut EP from English singer/songwriter Lewis Watson shows just how blessed certain young people can be with musical talents well beyond their years. A guitar for his 16th birthday led Watson down this path; he initially offered his songs to the masses via YouTube videos, calling himself HolyLoowis to avoid detection from his friends. It’s said that within days of this EP’s release, major labels began asking after him. Warner Brothers—with its roster of singer/songwriters such as David Gray, Damien Rice, and Neil Young—got the nod, and a series of excellent EPs have followed. Here, this debut shows off Watson's immediate strengths. Starting with a mop-up of a previous bad relationship (“What About Today?"), Watson sings his way through to the other side, reflecting on the past in “Windows,” finding someone new on “Bones,” and reveling in his good fortune on “Nothing.” With an undertow of forlorn wishing, this debut EP shows Watson at his most intimate.
