Live In Minneapolis

An R&B mainstay in the ‘80s, Alexander O'Neal got his start in a group called Flyte Tyme, alongside future superstar producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They were signed to Prince's label and became The Time, though Morris Day replaced him as lead singer. Undaunted, he continued working with other acts, and in 1985 released his self-titled solo debut, racking up several hit singles. He put out eight more albums over the next 25 years, and more recently has appeared on several reality shows. But he remains best known for his early hits, slickly produced love jams like "Saturday Love" and "Fake." This live album showcases him in front of an enthusiastic hometown audience, revisiting fan favorites such as "If You Were Here Tonight," "Sunshine," and "What Can I Say to Make You Love Me." Still sounding sharp a quarter-century into his career, this is another solid release from one of the smoothest, most romantic voices of our times.
