Who Are You - An All-Star Tribute to the Who

This isn't just a tribute to The Who. It's a fascinating mix of artists getting together in unforeseen combinations to pay tribute to one of rock 'n' roll's greatest songwriters, Pete Townshend. "Eminence Front" starts with King Crimson's John Wetton, Judas Priest's K.K. Downing, and Dream Theater's Derek Sherinian joining forces for a funky take on the 1982 classic. The '70s prog-rock outfit Nektar delivers a powerful and melodic take on the classic-rock staple "Baba O'Riley." The MC5's Wayne Kramer teams with Paul Revere & The Raiders' Mark Lindsay for the early Who masterpiece "I Can See for Miles." Vanilla Fudge's Carmine Appice, Hawkwind's Huw Lloyd Langton, Rick Wakeman of Yes, and Def Leppard's Joe Elliott combine for Quadrophenia's epic "Love Reign O'er Me." There isn't a bum Who track in the set, and the unexpected team-ups result in performances that are remarkably close to the originals and yet distinguished by their own energies.
