Make Some Noise

Make Some Noise

Salvador’s first studio release in five years proclaims the band’s return in loud ‘n’ proud sonic colors. As Christian music’s most prominent Latin-rock unit, the group fuses its redemptive message to upbeat grooves that grab the feet even as they summon the Spirit. Make Some Noise holds true to this tradition, kicking things off with the Motown-esque title tune driven by punchy brass. Lead singer Nic Gonzales dives into reggae-accented tracks (“Tirate”), old-school R&B numbers (“Inside Out”), and balmy beachside pop (“Who Do You Want Me to Be”) with equal aplomb. Salvador crosses genres freely here, veering from the dynamic gospel of “Get Up and Dance” to the sweltering salsa of “Este Carito” and the easygoing, Lionel Richie–like shuffle of “Better Man.” Make Some Noise’s message of hope for the humblest believer shines through most eloquently in “Not Alone,” an acoustic ballad inspired by Psalms 8. A celebratory cover of Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” bolsters the band’s original tunes. Eclectic, energized, and overflowing with faith, Make Some Noise is a welcome return by this hard-working veteran combo.
