A three-man crew from Seattle, Dyme Def is Brainstorm, S.E.V., and Fearce Villain, with most beats provided by in-house producer Bean One. Dyme Def has put out a half-dozen projects since 2006, including Space Music, 3BADBROTHAAAS, and Sex Tape. For this deluxe edition of Yuk the World, the crew unleashes a staggering 34 tracks, loaded with high-octane beats unafraid to revisit classic samples like "Take Me to the Mardi Gras" and "Funky Worm" to back up their bugged-out and party-centric verses. Drawing comparisons to Tha Liks, old Beastie Boys, and The Pharcyde, Dyme Def has made good-times throwback rap its stock in trade, with airtight, back-and-forth rhymes and ridiculously catchy, sample-based production. Though Dyme Def is relatively unknown outside its immediate hood, more music like this should guarantee crossover success. "Rocca House Party," "Cheers," "That Kill Bill," and "Time Flies" are all fantastic.
