Right Now!

Right Now!

An integral part of the Lower East Side scene that also spawned Swans and Unsane, Pussy Galore emerged in the mid-'80s and built up a loyal cult following with a potent blend of noise rock, raw blues, freeform punk, and hard drugs. Pussy Galore released one cassette (a cover of The Stones' Exile on Main Street), various seven-inches, three EPs, and three albums before disbanding to embark on projects like Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Boss Hog, and Royal Trux. Right Now! was originally released in 1987 and showcases Pussy Galore's explosive, take-no-prisoners style, with 19 songs (most of them less than two minutes) overflowing with savage, treble-heavy riffs, minimalist percussion, and yelled vocals. Hugely influential if commercially overlooked, the band's super-rough, no-b.s. sound still impresses 25 years later. Check out "Biker Rock Loser," "White People," "Punch Out," and "Really Suck."
