This expanded 1970 album captures two distinct sides of The Byrds. The first half comprises recordings from a pair of New York concerts, including a punchy run through “So You Want To Be a Rock ’n’ Roll Star” and a wild 16-minute guitar wig-out on “Eight Miles High.” The studio cuts span the gentle jangle and spoken-word verses of the touching “Chestnut Mare” and the chugging twang of “Hungry Planet,” which partners psychedelic rock with cosmic country.
