Songs for Uranus 2 - EP

Jonny Manak originally recorded these songs (and those on its preceding companion EP) for the self-abusive young men at Dickhouse Productions—the fellows responsible for the stunt- and prank-based reality show Jackass and its spinoffs. Songs for Uranus 2 opens with the appropriately titled “Break Your Face,” an adrenaline-charged fireball of punk ‘n’ roll garage rock turned up to 11. As with Manak’s first collection of songs recorded to accompany physical hijinks, the multi-instrumentalist played everything here, sang every vocal overdub, and recorded all these songs at his Cup O' Pizza home studio. And as with his earlier songs, Manak proudly wears his influences on his sleeve. In “Do the Spazz,” he pays loving tribute to The Trashmen’s hyperactive surf-rock, right down to a throaty-toned temper tantrum of gibberish that recalls the "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow” chant. “You’re Gonna Die” is reminiscent of the glammed-up punk that was coming out of NYC in the '70s. “Epic Fail” packs the one-two punch of being hit overhead with a folding chair.
