Sweet game
The 3d adds a lot. Best looking brick game on the app store. Had to see why it cost so much. There are lots of cheaper brickbreakers out there but I think u get what u pay for. I was happy with it.
Was great (1.1.2), Now garbage (1.1.4)
Another upgrade and more GARBAGE! Yet again, an upgrade obliterates your high scores. I had DOUBLED my high scores in all three modes. Now all gone. What pissants these guys are. Read on for more on why you shouldn't waste your money on this app.
Another 'feature': Unbreakable or black blocks are asymetrical. That is, it is much easier for the ball to pass on the way back to you than it is for you to return the ball past the blocks to proceed on.
The most recent update (as of Aug 09) downgraded this app. It is UNSTABLE; the audio is terrible and erratic; and the developer now crams the app with advertising up front. Be prepared for it to crash just as you finish getting a new high score. Moreover, despite numerous complaints about app stability, the developer has done NOTHING to address the ptoblems.
For non-free apps, Apple really needs something like a certification program so that buyers know they are getting some kind of commitment to keep the app going.
This version downgrade is SO bad that it actually highlights other weeknesses in the app: VERY POOR USABILITY, especially in the buttons (erratic response to use); unpredictable app response time. These last two can be overlooked when the app is otherwise solid. But with all the new weaknesses, pre-existing problems just add to the frustration. For example, several of the visual effects effectively kill usability until the effect has played out. The physics of certain situations seems rigged against the user (seems absurd, yes, but if you play the game enough, you will see what I mean).
All in all, an app already in need of improvement has been made TERRIBLE by its developer.
Mad Fun for a special $2.99!
This has to be one of the better games out there for the iPhone or iPod, it takes some skill and intuitive thinking to best some of the later bosses but well worth it. The achievement badge system is really cool but nothing really new. The controls are easy to use and there is no lag. So many different powerups will keep you posted for a good time. Bright colors and the 3-D background is really nice to look at. I recommend this game, worth every penny.
