AppCraver.com said: "ABC Animals provides a unique interactive teaching tool that makes learning letters fun." 9/10

O'Reilly Media, Inc: "Best App for Learning ABC's"

Geekdad.com said: "I love the fact the letters are sitting on 'lined paper' graphics and the clear directives on how to write letters had me imagining school classrooms full of children with iPhones..."

An Apple "Staff Favorite," ABC Animals provides a wonderful set of interactive flashcards that aid in teaching young children to recognize, say and print English alphabet letters. Intuitively scroll between cards with the flick of a finger. Fun and engaging animal illustrations help to keep learning ABC's fun! Audio accompanies each card providing a letter name, associated animal name and the phonetics for each letter. Double tap any card to flip it over and practice tracing both uppercase and lowercase letters right on the screen of your iPhone. Shake to erase. Preferences allow a parent to choose the handwriting method best suited for their child, enable or disable any or all sound effects, randomize card order or prevent cards from flipping over if practicing writing skills or phonics isn't age appropriate. ABC Animals now enables bilingual families to practice their ABC's in English, French, German or Spanish.

School supply stores regularly charge ridiculous sums of money for a set for ABC flashcards. Why spend that sort of money for a set of non-interactive flashcards? ABC Animals provides 68 professional illustrations, 2 handwriting methods per letter and audio -- all for less than the cost of a gallon of gas! Teach your preschooler letters, phonics and basic printing on the go with ABC Animals. It's like having a preschool in the palm of your hand!

Please note that the first generation iPod Touch does not have built in speakers! To hear the audio for ABC Animal's on the iPod Touch, users will need to plug headphones into the headphone jack.

Feedback, bug reports and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged! Please visit the Critical Matter website to provide any of the above or to receive support for your purchase. Thank you!

Not great

Too aggravating for a child. No instructions and if there is an erase feature I don't know how to activate it. After double tapping to flip the card it won't turn to the next letter or flip back over to the flash card. A waste of money.

Not for $2!

Its just electronic flash cards. Flip to the back and you can trace letters. No sounds or confirmation of doing it right. Very plain. Waste of money. Free or 99 cents should be the only price point. Slightly ok if your going to be looking over your childs shoulder the whole time but not worth it for car rides or to occupy them while you make lunch or dinner.

Nice design, UI needs help.

Shake to erase doesn't work. Double-tap is difficult for kids to do without help sometimes. It would be nice to go to the next card without exiting "tracing mode". My 4-year old lost interest at B. ABC Tracing is free and she likes it better.
