Disappointing
I'm a bass player. I brought home an iRig to try it out with my axes. I used the free version of Amplitube but was frustrated because the only amp model it came with was "Lead." So I forked over 20 bucks so I could have the "Clean" amp model.
I hooked up my MusicMan Bongo 6-string, followed the suggestions to put the iPhone in Airplane Mode and killed all other running applications. The sound was okay for higher frequency notes but everything I played on the low B string came out badly distorted.
This isn't a toy for bass players. I returned the iRig to the Apple Store this afternoon and now I'm going back to my old Korg Pandora PX4D effects box.
Oh, and one more thing. When I was looking for opinions on the iRig, I did a web (Google) search on it. Now nearly every web site I visit I get bombarded by ads for the iRig Mic. If this doesn't stop soon, I'll lower my rating of the iRig to one star.
Almost great
When watching the promo video on ikmultimedias site, I said to myself, wow, this is a no brainier , all the pedals, amps and speakers? And a four track? Never mind the free or le version, let me at the full version! But then after buying the full version I felt dupped when I realized how many pedals I had to buy for an extra $2.99 or so, and that it came with a one track recorder , oops another $4.99 to get the other three tracks, and oops, another few bucks to get the master fx so u can get some eq and compression on the four track. And ok , why not save a few bucks and get the fender bundle? That way when the irig adapter gets delivered i'll be set! Wait! Since amplitude doesn't have drums and I'm not always home to upload a loop or create a performance and transfer it via iTunes so let me get another app to handle that! Now I'm set!
Now I can put down ideas no matter where I am. The amps sound pretty good, especially coming from my phone. Now let's record!! Problem!!!! Sounds from whatever track you recorded bleeds onto the one your adding, and that sweet clean rhythm track is being distorted because it's also coming thru the hot lead preset I'm using on the solo I'm laying down, even though the insert is disabled oh the rhythm track. Not good at all. I don't see any fix, maybe try reinstalling it? Well not after reading how everyone reinstalled only to find the add ons missing from the "full version". Yeah it does have a lot of good points, but I wouldn't have brought it had I known it didn't come with the four track. Well maybe I would have but not if I knew the four track bleeds so much audio from other existing tracks. So I guess I'll see what else is out there until they fix this.
Rip off
I had the free version and bought the four track recorder. I got the real version and lost the four track recorder. I refuse to pay for it twice. Don't buy it, or anything else from them. If I could give it zero stars I would.
