Definitely a great program!
Today, I downloaded two other anagram apps for use with a third difficult word-finding app I have. One anagram app only found a short list of words. The other found no words at all -- from a 10-letter anagram! Although this Anagram & Word Lookup has only been around a short time, I downloaded it out of frustration when the other apps didn't work. Wow! This is nice. It gave a looonnnng list of words for the anagram I put in AND it "remembered" it. So, when I closed this app to open the other one and then had to check back on the same word again, I didn't have to retype it. It also sorts according to alphabet, word length, and score (for Scrabble players). The type is large and very legible without having to hold the app close. And to make it easier, there is a slight shading on every other line so can tell at a glance how many points go with what word. I like the background, too. It is easy on the eyes. A filter feature allows a word to be typed in the search box with wild cards (for instance, if you have a blank tile). With all of this, it is even a dictionary and a thesaurus. This app even provides tips to improve your Scrabble game, but I can see where it will help me to know the tips with other word games, too -- such as with Wurdle. I'm really enthusiastic about this app and I've only used it for the past hour! There is one thing that I couldn't find in this app. Two dictionaries are featured: SOWPODS and YAWL, but what the heck are they? It would be nice to have a little explanation about each to know what you are or aren't getting with one or the other. (Small criticism. Not a deal breaker. Very nice program overall!)
Great, except for one problem . . .
I love this App, and use it primarily when I'm playing Scrabble online. (Although I'm a very good player, and I really don't like to "cheat," it seems that almost everyone else who plays online uses some sort of word finder or anagram program, so it's the only way to level the playing field.) My only criticism is that the App seems to freeze up and refuse to open at least once every few days. The only way I've found to get it to work again is to completely delete the App and then re-download it. Has anyone else experienced this same problem, and if so, do you know of an easier solution?
