Description

A fantastically simple tool to make email links open to your webmail service of choice.

If you're frustrated that Apple Mail opens every time you click an email address in your web browser, this is the solution!

Works out of the box with popular services like Gmail, AOL, Outlook, Yahoo, Office365, Fastmail, Zoho, and Yandex.

Do you use a different service? There's a "Copy to Clipboard" option for you. It saves you a few clicks by copying the To: address to your clipboard so you can paste it wherever you like.

If your favorite email service is not supported, you're welcome to email fpotter@gmail.com and I'll see if I can add it. (Sorry Protonmail fans; yours cannot be supported unless Protonmail adds a needed feature.)

Works with Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and others. Because Open In Webmail is an app and not a browser-plugin, it works system-wide.

Concerned about privacy? I am, too. That's why this app is "sandboxed" such that it cannot collect or transmit any of your data. That's how it should be.

What’s New

Version 1.4

+ Native support for the latest M1-based Macs.
+ New "Copy to Clipboard" option can copy the email address instead of opening webmail.
+ All documentation is now bundled with the app under Help > Open In Webmail Help.
+ Outlook / Live users: Fixed bug where spaces in pre-filled subject line were changed to (+) signs.

YAY ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Ever since Safari/MacOS dropped support for unverifiable extensions like the old mail:to, I have been soooo frustrated. I love using Safari for many reasons, not least of which is the auto-correct option. So it became a matter of right-click, copy the address, open Gmail, press C for Compose, paste the address and then move my cursor to either Subject or Body, and only then could I start the actual email. Half of the time I would have then forgotten the whole purpose of my email! I'm so grateful for your decision not only to recreate this extension but also to go thru the extra work and cost of making it a true MacOS extension. $0.99 is a small price to pay for the satisfaction I get every time I click on a mail:to link now.  THANK YOU!

Makes a Hard Thing Easy!

It's so frustrating that Safari offers no extension to handle mailto URLs with gmail. Google away and find nothing but disappointment in the search results. Comes now this wonderful app, which is simplicity itself, to solve a problem that should never have been a problem to begin with. I hope one day Google searches will return this app on the first page of results because it's a wonder!

Helloandyhihi ,

Worth $2. Setup info missing.

This is absolutely worth two dollars. But the setup information misses a crucial point: You have to open the native MacOs Mail app. But you don't have to import thousands of messages first.

If you don't use the Mail app, when you open it it will prompt you to import all of your messages, which made me nervous. I don't want my computer spending days downloading tens of thousands of messages.

The documentation should have clearly indicated that you can open Mail without that happening. First: in MacOS preferences, under Internet Accounts, look at each of your internet acocunts and make sure the Mail app is unchecked.
