Good Game
Needs better money management options, like example to take out loans if you come up short. Also should probably give you more starting money as well, options are limited with starting cash. Needs better AI, as the other companies make ridiculous money off their releases, and your starting releases never yield more than 20 million, and theirs yield 100 of millions. That definitely needs to be adjusted, as well as giving you more stuff to start with like a stage, and some landscapes and editing etc. Also, the price of actors really needs to be fixed as your starting because they do good in other companies movies and it really drives up your price to create a film. If all of those things get fixed this would be the greatest movie tycoon game out.
Ton of Potential
Probably the best realized movie tycoon sim on iOS though that’s not saying much. The game gives you great control over your product and the game flow is simple but addicting.
Where the game falls short is in the details and the feedback mechanisms. For instance, you may be able to control your production budget but there’s nothing that tells you if you distributed your money correctly. Same with actors. There’s a ton of them to chose from but no indication of their strengths, popularity or even how they did in your movie. The only feedback you get is from awards and they’re not very well integrated. (Minor point: seems weird to have so many options for production an so few awards. Why am I wasting time casting supporting actors or setting makeup budgets it I don’t know what that’s getting me)
I just ended up picking at random and by the end it can become a slog because there’s no strategy to back up the simulation. Like I said if you want a movie game then pick this one up. There are much worse ones out there.
Love the game! Room for improvement
All and all I think this is a thorough and well put together representation of production decisions. The off-brand names for recognizable actors and crew are really fun. Its super satisfying to A) survive the initial 5 years and B) make hella money off of movies while climbing the ranks.
Some things I would like to see added are
• the actors could use pictures for reference
• year by year stats personal stats
• section to view oscies results for at least the year
