Great for Everyone
Bottom Line: this app in general helps you know more about your device and it is well updated, constantly getting better.
I'm a techy kind of guy and I love this app. It works as advertised and is well worth a buck if you have an iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 3G 32 GB, iPhone 4/iPod Touch 4 running iOS 4/5 with multitasking.
Even though I'm in the IT dept, this app is great for anyone. The information that AppSwitch gives is very interesting and useful.
AppSwitch is not as much a multitasking mechanism as it is something like an Activity Monitor in Mac or System Monitor in Windows. It does work as advertised to switch directly to certain places in apps like FaceBook and Twitter for iPhone.
Practical Use:
Often, your device slows down because it is running out of free memory. This is easily remedied by looking at the processes and seeing which ones are running. Then if you select the memory view from the menu bar at the bottom, you can see how much memory you are using. You can then determine which apps you are not using and kill them via the iOS multitasking menu accessed by double clicking the home button. Tap and hold an app to allow killing done by tapping the red circle at the top left of the app. Works great.
Certain things to know about this app: 1. you must update the database of recognizable apps yourself in the settings menu. So far, they have not been included in the update through the app store. The reason for this is because the database can be updated instantly while the app store submissions take time.
2. It helps you and creates a nice visual to have your icon packs downloaded and up to date. Icon packs can be accessed through the settings menu as well.
3. If you want a particular app to be recognized by the app, select the app from the "All Processes" section and tap send feedback at the top right corner of the screen. Enter the information fields and wait. Appswitch comes out with app database updates frequently in which more apps are added to the "Known Processes"
XCool Apps so far has impressed me with this one. It has a wonderful UI and the frequent updates within and to the app make AppSwitch constantly on the upswing.
Update: I have to bring my rating up. XCoolApps came out with a great update and Appswitch is better than ever. CPU usage monitor is invaluable.
Ultimate multitask monitor
I have had this app since my iPod touch 2nd gen and have been surprised every time I use it how functional it is. I don't know if it's new but I just discovered the CPU monitor feature and I love seeing both cores on my 4s active. This app is probably a bit over the heads of average users who probably don't care but to a specs monitoring junkie it's great. Love the app.
