Great web service but disappointing app
Asana is a really great web-based task management service, the best I've used. I recommend it highly as a GTD tool. Maybe it's because their web-app is so good that their iPhone app is so disappointing. The most glaring issue I have with the app is that it is not native. Though a decent design, it's just not as responsive as a native app and the UI feedback for user interaction is lacking. This app is just not a joy to use, so I'll use it when I have to but not because I want to. Hopefully they'll build enough customers to consider a native iOS app.
Great on web. No iPad app
I've been using Asana for about 3 hours and I'm hooked. Easy, intuitive, and integrates with others. Love it.
The iPhone app, at first glance, looks like it will be best as a check in tool and not an actual productive app. I was hoping for an integrated and robust iPad app, but no dice. You can use it on iPad but it's the iPhone interface and size that you get. A specifically designed iPad app that works like the web interface would be ideal.
Make this is a REAL app
As has been voiced by others, Asana's web interface is phenomenal.
However, the app is much less. The following two overall improvements will make Asana ideal:
- native iPhone app which allows many more basic functions to be performed with ease
- push notifications with time and location context
I am sure everyone is looking forward to this!
