Puzzle scoring adds an arcade game feel to sudoku and provides a metric for challenges. Now there are two parts to the puzzle, how to solve it and how to get a higher score.
New difficulty levels definitions provide games that are consistently Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, or Insane. All puzzles are guaranteed to be solvable without guessing, although harder puzzles require some advanced solving techniques.
Campaign Mode has 50 preset puzzles that span all 5 difficulty ratings. Play one to unlock the next one. See how high of a score you can get by completing all 50.
Highlights are a revolutionary and exclusive way to see and solve sudoku puzzles. With highlights you can softly highlight cells, rows, or columns with the gesture of a finger. They help focus your attention and narrow down possibilities. You can use highlights to temporarily mark positives or negatives.
- Swipe into a row to highlight the whole row, or swipe into a column to highlight the whole column.
- Press and hold on a number to highlight all occurrences of that number.
- Press and hold again to highlight all rows, columns and blocks for all of those occurrences.
- 'Draw' on the board to highlight cells.
- Tap off the board to clear all highlights.
- Rub on a previous answer to wipe it out and remove it (iPad Only)
Get Hint offers clues to help solve your puzzle without actually giving away the answer. It might direct you to a cell and tell you your answer is incorrect. Or it might highlight an empty cell and tell you that a 'Single' or a 'Hidden Single' can be found there.

Some distracting elements
I like sudoku, this app is ok but one huge distraction is a blue crest or flower that overlaps with the board in the right corner. I understand wanting to make an interesting game board but I keep finding myself trying to move the board to get rid of it. There didn't appear to be a way to turn off the decorations or select a new sort of theme. There is a timer in this version, which I wasn't sure I would get when I bought this- previous reviews suggested this. There are two input modes: one that puts a circle with 1-9 and delete around the square you are writing and one that has an input pad to the right off the board. The opaque circle blocks the 4 or so numbers next to where you are entering, which caused more than one mistake since I couldn't see everything. I use the side pad. The boards seem to be fixed rather than generated in the fly. So when you start a new game, you have to select "easy",medium, hard, expert, or insane and then pick a board. I would much rather just select new game, select the level and get a new board that I haven't seen yet. After just 4 games I will have to scroll to the next page or two pages or x pages to get to a new one I think.
The Best Sudoku to Date
Simply put, this is one of the slickest Sudoku apps for iPad, and I've bought a few of them. It is aesthetic, and moderately challenging on expert (though I don't consider myself an expert). That's its one drawback, really. If you play a fair amount, and know some of the advanced strategies for elimination, it is quite conquerable; most of the time. There are no issues with bugs, as some reviewers have claimed, IF you reboot after experiencing problems. If they cranked up expert a notch or two, this app would be absolutely perfect!
