Nice start

Setup is a little difficult. In order to load books you much have access to either a website so you can download books or the technical know how to create a local site where you can store your books. This app would really be helped out by a desktop helper app similar to BookShelf. If there was a streamlined way to load books this would go a long ways toward winning lots of users.

Usability of the application is excellent. The author obviously spent a lot of time creating a nice usable and configurable UI for the application. All features are within easy reach (fonts, color, etc) I would prefer the prefs be available directly from the books but it's ok where it is. Page turns are nice but I would prefer an option for a slide up animation instead of the flip animation. Handling of large text files seems to be the best of all the readers out there now (BookShelf and eReader).

To be the perfect eReader, I would like to see 1) Alternative Page Flips. 2) Easy Loading 3) Support for other common text formats such as PalmDoc

For a version 1.0 I am quite happy.

Works great, if a little buggy...

No Wi-Fi where I am, so I had to copy the books directly to my iPod with free 3rd party software. After I figured out how to format the text files (thanks to the website) and where to put it (thanks to 30 minutes of experimentation on my part) I had a perfectly working, crash free existence, until I opened a book and then quit immediately. Then it wouldn't even run and I had to completely reinstall it. Fortunately, I found out about this on the website, too, and the update fixes it (and most of the other bugs I've noticed). Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on Apple to upload it...
Anyway, thanks for a great, cheap app with great support. It is quickly becoming one of my most used apps. Now all I need is a good cheap/free PDF reader!

Worked fine for me

First of all I have noticed that several apps downloaded through iTunes will not install on sync. In every case when I go and download them directly on the iPhone they have installed without a problem.

I have not had any stability problems with BookZ and find it to be the nicest and most configurable of the three readers so far (Bookshelf, BookZ, and eReader). Getting books in is surprisingly easy using the built-in browser to go to Gutenberg and then click on any plain text, uncompressed download link. Note that the ebook world is pretty split. This app will get you copyright free stuff and will allow you to read your own plain text files. It will not get you the latest bestsellers. The eReader app provides access to those books, but the initial version of their reader is pretty bare bones.
