Canasta - The Card Game 17+

Hi again. Bernadette beat me last week and almost beat me today.
You have obviously been working on her. She (robot) is more aggressive and doesn't make as many errors... like getting herself locked in by having only one card and needing at least two in order to pick up cards from the discard pile, or in order to make a canasta so she can go out.
Another issue is that sometimes the robot doesn't discard at all. There are others but you are doing well with the tweeks you have made.
If you renamed the robot Maria, I could almost see my grandmother playing with me again.

I played Canasta with my Grandmother when I was 4. I'm 72 and play this game most mornings. It's a good game but is amazingly flawed. I've never lost and win in one hand most of the time.
Flaws: computer player:
1. Sometimes doesn't discard
2. Often is fixated with picking up cards and gets down to only one card. You cannot pick cards from the discard pile without at least two cards. The computer has no way of if she hasn't got a canasta on the board.
3. Strategy is missing. Needs to be more aggressive.

Also, I would like to see my stats after fixes are in place. I really would like to lose now and then.

Many thanks for your feedback and thanks for listing your issues with the app. We're already aware of some of them and we started working on a complete overhaul of the game, that will not only add new features and functions but should also fix a lot of the issues with the game. However, since this is a really big project in terms of developer power needed, this will probably take quite a bit of time still until we can release it, since we not only have to build the version but also test it extensively before submitting it to the store, in order to provide a good quality. Also we have to keep working on smaller updates for our other games in parallel, especially if urgent issues arise that we cant foresee, which can delay some things too. We're sorry if the experience with the game is currently not optimal for you and hope that the game, until we finish the new version, will remain somewhat fun for you! / Edit 23 April 2018: Hi again, good to see you are still playing! The issues in the current version are not completely fixed yet, you are right. The big update I mentioned in my previous reply is already taking shape and we expect it to be ready in about 2-3 months from now that should fix almost all of the computer behavior too. I know that this is still quite some time to wait but we're positive that it is worth the wait!

I did love this game and spent my time playing it..I get tired of the robot. (Is it a robot?) playing against the rules. Yes I get frustrated, not that I’m going to lose but because the rules are not followed. On several occasions I left the game because of this. Thought you might fix it, but no. Now as I’m getting ready to win the game is closed on me.....I want to play an honest game.......

I love canasta this game is fun, I like it. I use to play big time Canasta with a couple different partners. We were really good. No, we didn’t cheat, never! Even when I was teaching my young children to play cards they were not allowed to cheat. I quit the partner canasta because we got tired of being called cheaters. We were good, not cheaters! I am so tired of cheating by a robot (I think it’s a robot). First hand 6 cards, three wild cards. Happened twice. I played the first game and won. I quit the second game. One day I finished a game, which I lost could not believe the cheating. PLEASE FIX IT. I LOVE THIS GAME.......THANK YOU,

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback. In the current version you are playing against bots, that is correct. We also know that the game has some issues but unfortunately we're not able to fix them right now due to our limited resources. We are planning to have a big update for Canasta (even with online multiplayer) after we're through with our current main project (we are currently working on Rummy and Canasta is next on the list). Realistically speaking however, this means that the developer(s) will probably not be able to deliver a new working version before the beginning of the next year. We always try to take care of critical issues (if the game is not starting, crashing, working) right away but adjusting the AI and rules has to be done really carefully and is not an easy task to do in a few days in between projects. I hope you can still enjoy the game and we're definitely on it. We will start working on it as soon as our resources allow us to but don't expect big changes to happen in the next few months. I hope I was able to give you some helpful insights!

This game is fun, but many times the computer is a dud to play with. Funny how the computer mostly makes his meld right out of the shoot. To win at Canasta you have to have two canastas to go out. In this version it only requires one. It's no fun when you are building your strategy with a handful of cards and the computer goes out with one canasta. Frustrating. Also, the games reboots itself a lot and you lose points and entire games. HOWEVER! I love this game and play it all the time. I just wish they would develop a better version. Play it, you'll love it.

Hi The Weater OCDer. Thanks for your feedback. Good to hear that you love the game and I can already give you an overview about what we're planning for Canasta. We already started working on a completely new and overhauled version of the game that should still feel close to the current version, but should have a lot of improvements as it will be build completely new from scratch. This new version will also have and online multiplayer mode but since development and testing can take quite a while, don't expect it to release any time soon. We're aiming for a release in Summer but things can always go wrong and delay the development. Until then, we hope you can enjoy the current version!
