Mayhem

Pure mayhem. Pure hack and slash. Simple and fun.

Good game with need of some improvements

The developer is obviously fifted when it comes to graphics, as this game looks stellar. A simple defense style game, you are a knight of some sort tasked with surviving wave after wave of enemy attack. Simple fun, not too deep, and perfect for minute gaming that shines on mobile platforms such as this one. That said, I do with there were improvements to the engine, particularly in speed. There are times when the action gets choppy, and the framerate dips (particularly when rendering effects). I know I use an iPod touch 1st gen, and such things may not be as noticeable to those using 2nd gen touch devices or iPhones, but I do think developers should shoot to get the games running as optimally as possible on the 1st gen touch as it is the "base" model (lowest common denominator). There should also be some improvements made on the front end (the menu system, instructions, etc.). Right now it looks...under produced, and is a stark contrast to the hard work that has gone into the game proper. Some are calling for exploration and more depth, and I see that the developer has released a sequel to hopefully meet such demand. I do question, however, giving away the sequel for free while keeping the original, and less deep, game a paid app...but that's the devs decision, and anyone willing to spend a buck is advised to pick both titles up.

For when I get that hack'n slash craving

Overall pretty fun, though I couldn't figure out how to heal. Looking forward to some awesome updates.
