Players of the iPad version can compete with up to four opponents for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army just like in the original version of the game. They can trade goods with each other and claim the precious land and conquer all its resources.

Catan FAQ:
Question: I bought the seafarers expansion but after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring my iPad the expansion seems gone?
Answer: Don’t worry; your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. However for technical reasons you have to select “Buy” again. Confirm and an iTunes message will tell you that you’ve already purchased it and that you can re-download for free. You will NOT be billed twice!
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating from an old version or when restoring my iPad. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: Savegames from old versions can usually be restored automatically. For all other cases we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.
Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!
Question: What about online multiplayer and further expansions like “Cities and Knights”?
Answer: We’re already working on online multiplayer and the next expansion.

Poor AI; dice not random
The claim is that the dice are random. After regularly witnessing statistical miracles game after game after game (always stacked against the human), my belief in that claim has worn thin. I'm even beginning to predict these minor miracles of the dice. The impression is that the developers are having trouble developing an AI that challenges a critically thinking human opponent so they've resorted to the crude and easily deniable tactic of cheating the dice in order to provide a challenge. I've also noted that AI gangs up on human opponents, and will - far more often than makes sense- attack the human with the robber. To test this theory I played a game in which I settled on the least valuable land I could find and did nothing to advance. It didn't matter. I was still targeted more than twice as often as any other "player." Just chance you say? Unlikely. I only tested because I already noticed the pattern.
It's too bad.
Love the board game, though. Great job on that.
Good game
Only problem is a bug when you move the robber: nine times out of ten it locks the game. Otherwise, very good game.
Needs Online or Local (wifi/Bluetooth) Multiplayer
This game is great, and a lot of fun to play! I would give the game five stars, but for having to "pass the iPad" back and forth to play a multiplayer game.
We purchased this game because it said that it was multiplayer, but it didn't say that you couldn't play it between two iPads. Using a single iPad to play makes the games take a lot longer, and it is very cumbersome when trading.
