Amazing
I bought this just for chess and the chess part alone is worth the ten dollars. It IS chessmaster. Varying difficulty levels, the ability to resume games EVEN AFTER TURNING OFF UR DEVICE, 3D and 2D modes, this is an excellent game. The load times are not bad at all, this is an IPHONE GAME, not a PS3 game, it's not gonna have cutting edge graphics.. Good game, buy it if it looking for chess
So much game for the money
At $10 you have a full featured chess game and backgammon. They charge $7 and more just for chess on Verizon and the graphics are terrible. I love the 3d mode in chess where you can look at the board from different angles. Gonna keep this one for a while.
Top Notch
Big chess player here. First, video games can’t simulate the feel of a real chess game. That being said this version’s pretty good, both beginner and experts can enjoy it.
There’re a number of good and bad points to it. I’ll start with the good.
Graphics are great. Very clean 3D. 2D is bland but to be expected. Doesn’t really matter much since I don’t play chess for graphics. AI’s pretty decent for chess. It isn’t too difficult to defeat on the higher levels but there’s some challenge to it, enough for me to continue playing.
The game modes are good. I like the quiz section. Some are a easy but there are a couple of tough ones and the timer/score is a nice addition.
Game saves are excellent.
Touch interface is pretty good, even with large fingers. Since it is usually the biggest sticking point with these games this is good. Moving the board around is very helpful. Overall strong gameplay, combined with AI it’s probably the strongest of those available.
Few rather minor bad points but they’re pretty obvious. I think the biggest one’s price. $9.99 is a bit much for this game. $6.99 is better but I think $4.99 would be perfect. It’s still good and if price is the major issue then you should realize it’s a very good game.
Battery drains quick. This’ll annoying for some, but I usually don’t have time to sit for long playing so I don’t find it too annoying.
Can’t switch the 2D board. I find it uncomfortable playing like that so I feel compelled to play white, but this is a minor issue.
Overall I find it to be an excellent app, and while expensive it’s still a good buy. At $4.99 I’d give it 5 stars but as it’s a bit pricey I list it at 4.
