Love it, one suggestion
This is a great product, very satisfied, first the review and then the suggestion.
The interface is great, easy to use and for once a chess app is made for the serious and casual chess player, the puzzles can get very difficult and start very basic as well. I love the setting that you can toggle too, definitely the BEST chess tactic app in the app store.
My suggestion is a minor one that would make the app perfect in my opinion. There is an option to turn off objectives, however I think it should be made as a first hint instead. When you touch hint, it gives away what piece the move is with. I think this gives away too much of the problem. I think the header should just be: "White to move and win" or "White to move and draw" but once you hit hint, it would say "White to move and mate" or "White to move and gain a decisive advantage". And if the user were to hit the hint key again, then maybe show what piece the puzzle should be solved with.
Another suggestion is something that is bigger. After solving a problem, I think the problem should go into some sort of examine mode, if you know ICC, then you know what I'm talking about. Perhaps add something to allow the user to explore some lines in the tactic, so that the pieces can be moved around. I sometimes like to see the moves that I calculated on the board after I find thta it is wrong, just so I can see where my flaw was.
Outstanding
This app is easy to use yet has outstanding value for those who love chess and want to improve. It does not play chess, instead it has 1200 chess tactics to solve. It has put forth a defined mission And fulfills that objective with aplomb. This is the only time I have given a chess app 5 stars!
A great tool for sharpening your chess skills
After going through 300 of the combinations I find that my ability to spot combinations and calculate them is definitely improving. By studying and replaying these combinations and their variations a student can absorb tactical patterns much more quickly than by studying a conventional book of combinations. This program will provide a great many hours of amusement for the chess fan and will help practical players add a large number of useful tactical patterns to their repertoire.
