Description
The American Civil War (1861–1865), also known as the War Between the States, was a civil war in the United States of America. Eleven Southern slave states declared their secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America, also known as "the Confederacy." Led by Jefferson Davis, the Confederacy fought against the United States (the Union), which was supported by all twenty free states (where slavery had been abolished) and by five slave states that became known as the border states.
In our app we would like to share with you the information about 401 battles, their description, commanders, belligerents and images. You will be able to find it on the map and know how far it was away from you current location.

Good Start but needs refining
I had been looking for an app while traveling that I could use to get a quick look at what battlefields were in the area that I was currently in, this is why I chose this app. I found this app accurate with the historical data and good for a quick refresher on each battlefield that I might be near. There are two drawbacks to this app though, first is everything is in kilometers, here in the U.S. we use miles, would be nice to have a setup area where you could chose which to use. The second is the "locate on map" function; after traveling through the south for many years I have visited about half of the 401 battlesites in this app. I found the "locate on map" will get you in the general area of the battle, but two thirds of the time it is more than five miles off. For example, Perryville ( which is a state park) is 10.16 miles off, showing the battlefield in the suburb of Danville. There are a lot more like this. Munfordville is 5.18 miles off, Rowlett's Station is 6.15 miles off, Grim Ball's Landing is 5.64 off, Fort Donnellson (which is a national park) is 6.5 miles off. I like this app, but if I am looking for a battlefield, I don't want to travel 100 miles to almost be there. I would expect it to be within a half mile at the farthest. I guess I will just have to use this app to get close, then turn to "The Civil War Battlefield Guide" by Frances Kennedy to get the precise location.
New version a lot better on on locations, I have not gone through every battle, but the 50 or so that I did had 5 still more than a mile off, Athens Alabama, shows in Michigan for one example. As a Mid-Range computer programmer I know there are always some bugs that will need to be worked out, just trying to give feed back, would like to have the perfect Civil War battle field guide for my pocket and this App is getting close,(tired of hauling around all those the field guides), would like it to be in miles though, you should come over the pond and check some of these sites out, use you own App and see what you think.
