Description

This colorful educational app for the iPhone®, iPad®, and iPod touch® has all 52 illustrated picture flash cards (plus audio for each card) from the Compare & Contrast Fun Deck® by Super Duper® Publications. Select the cards you want students to see, and ask your students to compare the items, contrast the items, or do both. The choice is yours! You can also use these pictures for other tasks, such as talking about categories!

This App is simple to use — each student looks at an illustration, and either reads the prompt or touches the screen to listen to the prompt. The student then gives a verbal response. After each answer, tap the green (correct) or red (incorrect) button to score the student’s verbal response. Move to the next card by sliding the card currently on the display screen to the side. To move to the next player, tap the bar at the top of the screen and select a name. You can also advance cards and players automatically by selecting the Auto-Advance option in the Game Options menu. You can leave a game temporarily and return to it later by selecting Pause Game from the menu. To return to the game, select Continue Game from the main menu. When you finish, view the results in a graph, and print or email your data.

Compare & Contrast Fun Deck® App lets you:
• Use the app in portrait or landscape orientation.
• Select all 52 cards or just the ones you want students to see.
• Track correct and incorrect responses for an unlimited number of players.
• Advance players and cards manually or automatically.
• Receive feedback for incorrect and/or correct responses
• Discontinue game play and continue at any time.
• View results in a graph and see which questions a player missed during a session.
• Print, E-mail and share your results.

Totally teacher directed

The cards and illustrations in the app are great, but its 100% teacher directed, which doesn't work for what I need. The kids don't get any auditory directions, so I find this not to be very user friendly!

Good app

You might get a better response from non-speechies if you include instructions on how to properly use this app. The generic instructions don't truly teach you how to use this exact app. Touching the picture only says the name of the two items, not "How are an apple and a banana alike?/How are they different?" I think the instructions included on the card deck should be included here as well as the game ideas. For example, the "guessing game" can be used on the iPad as well, we just have to modify it slightly, such as turning the iPad away from the student since there are no cards to put down or pick up. I like this app because I know how to use it based on my background and experience with the card deck, but I can understand where the negative responses are coming from.
