Description

Convertbot is a unit conversion robot. Convert currency, length, mass, time and much more in an exciting new way! Converting numbers will never again be a mundane task. In addition to its innovative interface, our robot is smart enough to convert to and from mixed units. Are you 5 foot 9 inches tall? Other converters require you to convert that to 5.75 ft in your head before being able to enter it. Convertbot allows mixed units like Foot + Inches, Pounds + Ounces, and more! Download the unit converter from the makers of the award-winning Weightbot today!

Missing the obvious

Ok, so what would someone in basic construction need? How about a volume conversion of cubic inches to cubic feet and cubic yards. Isn't it obvious?

Interface is too clever for its own good

This app's interface looks like something out of a Star Trek movie (and I mean that as a compliment), but it's just too clever for its own good. In real-world use, it just ends up being cumbersome to have so many taps and turns just to convert from one unit to another.

As a practical example, consider the screenshot above with the various length-related units like "mm", "cm", and "in". As you might imagine, if you're rotating the wheel looking for a specific unit, it can be a bit tough to skim over the units as they're flying by since the text is inevitably a bit sideways except for that exact middle spot.

If you're looking for a conversion utility, I've been really happy with "convert" from tap tap tap.

Can't convert to in/ozs in the "Work" category!

A major oversight considering how often there is a need to convert from N-M or in/lbs to in/ozs when working with torque wrenches. And yes, I can do the conversion in my head, but this application should be capable of doing it. I e-mailed the author of this application concerning this oversight long ago, but there was no response and no update. How hard can it be? 2 stars until fixed :-(
