Kinda like cooking mama
Cooking Mama sets up "recipes" which are composed of a set of minigames while Cooking Star gives you just the minigames by themselves. Cooking Mama has somewhat more variety but ultimately you're looking at the same minigames recycled throughout the different recipes so that's not saying much. Another thing is Cooking Star has REAL recipes in it, something Cooking Mama does NOT have. But don't expect to learn how to cook from Cooking Star either. The recipes assume the player has some understanding of basic cooking skills and lingo and some newbie chefs may be clueless on how to do certain things mentioned in the recipes. Some of the minigames can be quite challenging as well especially on the higher levels. If the idea of playing minigames to unlock recipes sound fun to you, this might be your cup of tea. According to the tutorial, there's 42 total recipes to unlock.

Oh Shut The H*ll Up Please!
The people reviewing this game need their iPod touches taken away. First and foremost, I paid $30 for a Cooking Mama Nintendo DS game. Ridiculously corny. Maybe if Cooking Mama dropped down to $1 I'd say wholeheartedly that it is a good game.
Now that I've got Cooking Mama out of my system let me state that this game should be in NO WAY COMPARED TO COOKING MAMA!! it's nowhere near so don't download looking for a Cooking Mama spinoff.
Cooking Star is a delightful change and very challenging. I'm still stuck on meatballs and salad believe it or not!! I agree to one thing, it needs more minigames!! Other than that, it's fabulous. I enjoy it everyday on my way to work. The graphics are nice too :) DEFINITE MUST BUY!!
