Bait and switch
Bought the app last December and while it has improved much since then, ALK has finally decided to end it's free map upgrades by December 2010. Because of that announcement I am marking it down to 3 stars instead of 4. If we had a proven map I would be okay with it but our map upgrades come through user corrections! Live traffic is now only $10 a year but Navigon still offers the better deal, which is lifetime. Traffic is a bit hit & miss. I doubt I'll buy live traffic knowing the map upgrades will end in a couple of months. If we have to pay for a map upgrade I'm switching to Navigon.

I've had this app since it first released on the App Store. Used it for the duration of my 3Gs contract and for the first month of my 4S. I've now purchased Navigon and will be using it from now on.
Pros: Nice map overview, ability to zoom in and out of route, colors on map are appropriate for day/night, traffic provided by INRIX, Text To Speech is loud and clear, has a Work and Home destination button, over the air map updates, fast GPS lock.
Cons: ALKmap is OUTDATED. They rely on customers to provide corrections, whereas European territories get NAVTEQ data. According to the new app detail, MapSure updates end September 2011 (if you read my previous review, i promised to switch to Navigon when the updates ended). They released a new app instead of updating the current one. Traffic subscription is a yearly cost whereas Navigon is lifetime. The road signs are incorrect, they used OLD NAMES which makes it confusing while driving.
In the end, during my time with CoPilot, the app worked but while using it I was always worried about the outdated map. At least with NAVTEQ I get some reassurance of the quality. For $19.99 over the span of two years I would say I got my money's worth but I just switched over to Navigon for $29.99 with live traffic for an additional $19.99
If CoPilot had updated the current app to Premium instead of making it a seperate app to purchase for another $19.99 , I would have stayed loyal to them.
Waste of Money
Bought this over a year ago and started out pretty happy with it but it seems like each update made this thing worse and worse. It now cannot even direct me to a typed in address without screwing it up somehow. Either it can't find a common address or when you go to route the GPS to that address, it changes what you've typed in (as in, instead of a 5 mi trip you are now driving from NY to Alabama). Even when I can get it to vomit directions, my ending point is almost never at my destination (or it crashes mid routing and I have to pull over and start all over with the stupid app). Seriously F this app. What a waste.

Loved this App when it was first introduced & gave it a 5 Star rating; Now, it is useless, can't even get it to get out of "determining location" contacted Support, they as useless the App itself. Do not Buy
